What are Sakho's stats like thus far?

Re: West Ham v Stoke City - Official Match Thread FT 0-0
Wouldn't disagree with that ,Chad

Obviously we have missed the boat with Ighalo but he (and Sahko) are the template of the sort of forward that works for us with the likes of Song, Lanzini & Payet.
That has to be the sort to look for.
The days of 'penalty box entries' and 'putting it on the big lads head' are gone.

Also agree that we need to move towards getting our players rather than loans like Moses and Jenkinson.
I imagine Chelsea and Arsenal would want £10m+ for each of those. Reckon we could do better for less.

Re: West Ham v Stoke City - Official Match Thread
Norwich,

I agree Noble isn't a starter on quality (sadly perhaps, but true) or form, I would like to see a club captain/ on field captain compromise but we will see. A bit like Hodgson with Rooney, Bilic has been backed into a corner a bit and I say that because I'm not entirely convinced it was his decision, or his alone at least.

Once Obiang and Song are both up to full fitness I would have them sharing the 'shielding' job between them in the centre, I don't see Kouyate doing that job as the best solution and I don't think Bilic does either. My ideal midfield, at least until Payet comes back, would actually be Song and Obiang with Kouyate slightly in front of them. He can then help out when we are under pressure but when we are on top I see him being a useful option able to break forwards.

I agree Carroll is a good 'plan B' but what he can't be is our backup option for 'plan A'. I would keep him in an ideal world (and I don't see Bilic selling Jelavic, who he clearly feels is doing a job as someone he knows and trusts. However, we need a backup for Sakho and it might just be that if an offer, even a loan with his wages off the books, comes in for Carroll we will need to accept in order to address that bigger priority. We will see.

Re: West Ham v Stoke City - Official Match Thread
The last half dozen games has answered a few questions for me and where our priorities lay in the next couple of transfer markets.

1. Bin Moses. Nothing like the player I thought he would be. Lazy and ineffective for way too long.

2. Bin Jenkinson and Buy a proper right back, spending some decent money. Tomkins has been great there defensively but the last two games where we have been really able to attack have highlighted his deficiencies going forward.

3. We need a Sakho mk2. I think Carroll has improved greatly in the last two games but he doesn't suit how we play. He is a last 20 min sub for us. Personally I'd sell him and Jelavic and go all out for a striker like that Ighalo. Probably not be able to get him, but that type of player. Would play Antonio there at minute.

4. Noble is not a starter when we are at full strength. Song in his place. Kouyate and/or Obiang. Payet/Lanzini/zarate in the attacking roles.

We are a good side as we are but need like for like replacements when injuries hit. As we have already shown, on our day we are as good as anyone

Re: West Ham v Stoke City - Official Match Thread
Grumster, he was awesome at old Trafford last week and I would stick with him but as a squad player, I think at home I would go with Sahko and Zarate when fit but away when we really need to hold the ball up for longer periods he is perfect as he really can do well. I'm not sold on Moses in any way and think Antonio could be used down the middle in one off games.
Lanzini imo could have a free role going out wide giving us that width to stretch teams and create space for Pyet and Song to capitalise on but we are then weak in midfield defence with Kouyote the only one shieldng the back four but fuck me it would be exciting 👍

Re: West Ham v Stoke City - Official Match Thread
Any team would struggle with half its goals in the treatment room, but I thought it was a pretty good game yesterday against a very in form team that could have gone either way.

Carroll is too easy a target for abuse when we aren't exactly playing to his strengths.

norwich hammer 10:30 Sun Dec 13
Re: West Ham v Stoke City - Official Match Thread FT 0-0
In past seasons we would have lost that 1-0 so not to get beat against a decent Stoke when we are threadbare is testament to how far we have come. Tbh it was a bit dull in places and we still need much more movement upfront when pressing them but it will come good.
Payet and Song together will be something else and a fit Sahko in front of them will bring goals galore, Zarate is greedy but has some talent and I think that is the way Slavin will go but such an attacking line up our defenders will have to be at the top of their game.

Sven Roeder 9:46 Sun Dec 13
Re: West Ham v Stoke City - Official Match Thread FT 0-0
For our team lacking our creativity (Lanzini & Payet) and the goalscorer who suits our style (Sahko) I thought we did very well though of course we looked laboured.
Those 3 in yesterday and I think we win 3-0.
I'm looking on the bright side in that these couple of months are a chance for the likes of Antonio to establish themselves and for Carroll to show whether he is still a Premiership footballer.
The last couple of games are showing slight improvement but I still feel long term that the earlier posted who talked about MOBILITY is right.
The game has changed and the Big Lad has got to do more. The days of the just looking to be a danger in the air aren't enough any more.
As I said Carroll has an extended run to prove he can do more.

Texas

You didn't rate Carroll from day one?
Plenty did to the tune of 30 odd million.
Out of interest if you was Bilic and had 10 million quid to spend on a pleyer who would you be after?

Steve P 9:35 Sun Dec 13
Re: West Ham v Stoke City - Official Match Thread FT 0-0
We looked much more balanced in the middle with Song playing. I thought Noble and Kouyate also had good games. Zarate and Antonio probably level for MoTM for me.

Carroll's not the player he was - he doesn't look to have any chance of a call up, and I'd put Sakho back in when fit.

I just felt the absence of Payet a bit more yesterday.

Huffers 9:27 Sun Dec 13
Re: West Ham v Stoke City - Official Match Thread FT 0-0
Exactly that, it shows massive progress that only in April and May last season we were desperate to get Carroll in the team.

Another positive, Noble was very good yesterday in the first half and Kouyate was also much improved. Zarate is worth keeping on the pitch as he always manages to get a decent chance away, despite him being frustrating at times.

Adrian did well when called upon. Shame that if we had either Lanzini or Payet playing in the last 2 games, I think we'd have 4 points more.

As gavros stated previously I don't think Bilic played Carroll as a lone striker, people continuously want a scapegoat,he may never be the player he once was but he's improving and for now we need him.
He's a West Ham player like it or not,I don't recall
many moaning when he signed a long time deal.

Re: West Ham v Stoke City - Official Match Thread
Huffers - Yep. Not only does he not score, he doesn't even remotely look like scoring a goal. We can talk up Carroll's attributes, or lack of them, all day, but the bottom line is a centre forward needs to possess a goal threat. Couldn't fault his work rate yesterday though.

I'm well pleased with Slaven considering the Injury list we have we still look so much better than the crap turned out last season !
Would we have gone to Old Trafford with that squad under the influence of the fat one and got a point ? Nah he would have said give this one up !!

Onwards and upwards me thinks.

jfk 7:48 Sun Dec 13
Re: West Ham v Stoke City - Official Match Thread
I wouldn't want to be in Slavs shoes now considering.

From where I was sitting stoke had the better first half we played too deep and when we broke there was no backup.

The ref was hopeless well out of his depth. Better second half from us but the draw was fair enough.

It's all about opinions but I'm impressed with Bilic.some on here expect too much, we've had a bad run of injuries but well come good again.
